The whole blanket is double crochet stitches in US terms. Each section of color is worked from its own ball of yarn. The skill level is intermediate because it can be tricky to manage several small balls of yarn at once in each row.
A chart is included on the last page of the pattern. Each square of the chart represents 2 double crochet stitches.
